Small Business start up is my passion. That is why I am writing this Blog. I have owned and operated many Small Business but I have come to realize that it is the start process that I like so I would like to. It doesn't matter what the business is, you should always go through the same process.
The first thing you should do, or more importantly feel, is the excitement for your idea. The passion that you feel goes a long way in determining the success of your business. You should believe in your business, your product, or your service, 150%. That is you should have no doubts about the idea. You need to vibrate with excitement about your business concept. Now this could change once your start to do research but once you start doubting the success then you should not do it!
Let me qualify that somewhat. Research is a very important element in Starting a Small Business. Even if you are passionate about your idea you may find that you may be ahead of your time, the market may not be ready for you, or you are not in the right location. Don't despair. Keep the idea, look for similar ideas in the marketplace, maybe come up with a new idea that you got from doing your research. You need to believe in your Small Business because if you don't feel the passion chances are you won't succeed. Now, on to the process of start up.
Before research you should do a basic outline of a Business Plan. Now don't let this scare you. It will start as a very basic outline. The purpose of this outline is to get you started in the right direction and to start thinking about all of the aspects. Before talking about the outline lets discuss what the purpose of the Business Plan is.
Why write a Business Plan?
A Business Plan can be used for many things but initially it will be used to keep you focused on what needs to be done at start up. You will need to come up with a method that you like to keep your notes. Some people may use a computer, other people may use a notebook or just make notes on pieces of paper. A good friend of mine does this because her ideas would come to her at all times. She would write on whatever was available. She would then take her notes and place them in a folder with pockets. Eventually she would transpose onto a computer. Whatever method you choose leave lots of room for adding, editing, and changing.
Your Business Plan will always be a work in process.
